Thursday was Ascension Day. Did it pass from you unnoticed? What
does
Ascension Day mean to you? What’s the
Gospel of
Ascension Day?

What does it matter what it means to me?
Clever, Clever, Padawan. What does the Ascension Day mean? What does Scripture give us to confess?
it means that Christ is from that day on pleading for us to his father, at the Father’s right hand in Heaven
I have a question. Why didnt we get to use the cross yesterday? I figured that we should have used it. I was kinda disappointed.
Cuz im the only one who ever carries it and i was ushering… either that or they didnot think bout it….
Or perhaps a better question is: Where’s the Sacrament.
There is no reason for the processional Cross without the Sacrament. We don’t get all going for high matins.
We redo our communion schedule for Easter, why not the ascension too?
Good Question, Stephens…. ask that to the PQ…
We had an Ascension Day Service Thursday night at my home congregation. It was a communion service, modified slightly from DS II: First Setting.
Pastor found a nice way to tie in Christ’s ascending to Heaven and yet being present in the Lord’s Supper as well.
“There is no reason for the processional Cross without the Sacrament”
There is always a reason for the cross! it’s the reason for everything. (see post on bloghardt’s rule 3). it is the reason we are saved, the reason we know our place in heaven, the reason we can accept every and anything as a gift from the hand of God. “If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is our faith.” (1 Cor 15:14) Without the cross, our fiath is useless, our teachings are useless, all of christianity is useless. just beause a church doesn’t have communion every sunday is no reason not to have the cross every sunday. you don’t take down the big cross over the alter just because we have a matins service. (although i’ve already had rounds about why not have Communion every sunday…)
